He went on to work as a wilderness instructor all over the US, Canada, and Mexico for 6 years after college,  working mostly with troubled youth in remote wilderness areas.

In 1997 Matt moved to WNC and decided to work with his hands. He founded Red Shed and started with smaller carpentry jobs. With 21 years experience, Matt has an Unlimited NC Contractor License, allowing him to work on residential projects of all sizes.

Matt is now married with kids, and loves the simple mountain life and being outdoors. Outside of work he enjoys river running, building wooden drift boats for white water, hunting, dirt bike trail riding, and climbing remote mountains.

Alicia Yabsley, Project Coordinator & Project Manager

Alicia grew up along the coast of Maine and attended college at Maine Maritime Academy where she studied Engineering and International Business & Logistics. In 2008, she moved to Long Island, NY. After Superstorm Sandy devastated Long Island in 2012, Alicia looked for an opportunity to help where her knowledge and skills could be better used. She spent 5 years working for one of the leading architecture firms on Long Island working on the NYC Build it Back Program as well as the state run NY Rising for Sandy Recovery. As Project Manager at the firm she oversaw a team of 23 draftsman as well as the daily operations of the firm. Since the program was unchartered waters, it afforded Alicia the opportunity to create her own system and methodologies. Working with the firms owners, Alicia assisted in creating systems that allowed them to simultaneously manage over 300 active builds at a time while continuing to ensure the highest standard of design.

When the program began to wrap up in 2019, Alicia turned her attention back to bigger dreams of owning a homestead with her husband and getting out of the city. In the fall of 2019, Alicia and her husband moved to Marshall, NC where that following spring they purchased their dream home.

Alicia began working for Red Shed in early 2020 and has since applied her knowledge and past experience to creating a custom designed tracking system that has streamlined and simplified the building process for both our subs and homeowners. In her down time, Alicia enjoys being outdoors, crafting, reading, and spending time in her garden.
